GEORGIA POWER COMPANY CHAMPION HOME TOWN CONTEST
The Georgia Power Company, in order to encourage economic development in the smaller communities, began the Better Home Town contest in which each community would organize their communities, inventory their assets and encourage economic development and industrial attraction. Each year the participating communities would conduct an inventory and prepare a Scrapbook describing their community and it's activities. The scrapbooks were judged according to community size and prizes were awarded.
